About Hollie Wood

My path in healthcare has been an exciting ride full of learning and changing. I’ve gone from being fascinated by medical history to loving the fast-paced field of aesthetics. Every step, from dental nursing to diving into aesthetics, has shaped me. Along the way, I’ve balanced being a mum and a professional, always eager to grow and adapt.

Saying Goodbye to Nursing and Hello to Aesthetics!

After leaving school, I had a burning passion to study the history of medicine. That led me to become a dental nurse, a career I adored for a whole decade.

I soaked up knowledge about facial anatomy, bone structure, and even mastered the art of comforting nervous patients. But life took me on a different path when I became a mum to three little ones. Balancing a full-time job with childcare was tough, so I made the brave decision to hang up my dental nurse gloves and become a part-time dinner lady. Surprisingly, I fell head over heels for this new job too.

Still, my love for nursing and the medical world remained, leading me to train in body piercing and laser tattoo removal. And I was hooked from that moment on!

Discovering the aesthetics world.

It was during my dive into body piercing and tattoo removal that I stumbled upon the fabulous world of aesthetics. Curious, I decided to get lip filler for the first time.  I couldn’t get enough of the natural, confidence-boosting results. That’s when I knew without a doubt that aesthetics was my true calling.

Becoming an aesthetics expert

I took a leap of faith and embarked on an advanced aesthetics course, honing my expertise and enriching my skills. It was the best decision I ever made. Witnessing the transformative power of aesthetics and being able to help people feel more self-assured is beyond rewarding. The satisfaction I feel when I see the smiles on their faces is indescribable.

Accolades and Future Plans

I can proudly say that I won the prestigious 2022 Aesthetic Practitioner (Midlands) of the Year award. And guess what? I’m currently a finalist for the 2023 Midlands Lip Master and Aesthetics Practitioner Awards, as well as a finalist for the 2024 HBA Best for Aesthetics award.

I now also run The Hollie Wood Aesthetics Academy and have proudly put my first students through their training with many more to come.
